Japanese Drama Review-"Good Morning Call"

Hello everyone! I'm back with my first review of a drama! I have just finished a drama today, and it was quite emotional saying good-bye to them.. But maybe I'll talk to you guys to cope with the pain...

Well, for starters, "Good Morning" Call is a Japanese drama about a high-school girl named Nao Yoshikawa. Because of certain conditions, she ends up living independently from her parents in an apartment near her school. However, the most popular guy at her school, Hisashi Uehara soon finds out that he and Nao were victims of a fraud case concerning their apartment. Both of them ended up living in the same apartment due to this fraud, and so, they must keep it a secret from their authorities...

But, now to the more important part! Do I ship Nao with Hisashi now that I've finished the show? No...but I did for the longest time...

Hisashi is a guy who leaves girls drooling during class and is constantly given chocolates and love letters, yet with all of this attention, he is alone because no one has truly appreciated him. Not only has his brother taken is first love, but he doesn't know how to be friendly to other people and comes off as being cold and disregarding others feelings and emotions. When they eventually fall in love, I don't think that he treated her well. Girls need a lot of confirmation in a relationship so that they know the guy is still interested and Hisashi didn't necessarily realize that. He liked the way things were and didn't think there was a need to doing "couple things." I think that Nao could have been more understanding of Hisashi and not guilt tripped him so much into doing things her way, but I also think that Hisashi should have shown more interest in continuing their relationship and catered to her feelings as well.

Now that we go that settled, there's the case of the childhood friend. Daichi Shinozaki has been the typical best friend who wanted more to the relationship but was too scared to reveal his feelings in case she didn't feel the same way type of guy. He was sweet, loving, and caring, or the basic things that's in a good guy. However, he knew that Nao and Hisashi liked each other, yet he kept asking Nao out and interfering in her relationship with Hisashi. I think that he shouldn't have tried to interfere with Nao and Hisashi, and steal her away forcefully, but rather let her come to him naturally.

Next, is my favorite! Issei Sato becomes Nao's co-worker after she had run into him and accidentally breaking $12,000 worth of money in expensive vases. Because she is a student and cannot afford the money, she decides to work for the shop where Issei also works at. At first, I didn't think much of Issei. He was just a "background character" who can be frank and straight to the point. But, when Issei started to like Nao, it became a different story. He was there for her, he catered to her feelings and emotions, stood up for her, and was humble enough to let Hisashi have her even though he had feelings to her. I wish that Nao ended up with Issei because I thought it was so cute that they worked in a ramen shop together.

As a drama itself, the plot line was of course cute and had its unique qualities. With drams, some typical plot lines could not have been avoided, but it was well written and had a great side characters that added to its individuality! I enjoyed the little details that made it different and the Issei and Nao moments that made me cry and laugh.

Anyways, I hope you all have a great week! Keep believing in your dreams, keep doing good even when no one's watching, and always, always, always, know that you are loved and special! Don't let anyone around you, models and actors included, discourage you or make you feel insufficient in anyway because you are amazing and made with a purpose!

Much love and keep dreaming,

Momo
