There was once a girl who grew up in a perfectly blessed and safe home. She had wonderful parents who always provided love and care for her, and sisters who were there for all of those lonely days. She considered herself blessed to be in such an environment, and she was happy for this reason. She had grown up thinking that whatever she was going to do when she grew up was to only do what her parents approved. Her parents wanted the best for her and desired her to go into a stable job such as a doctor, but she didn’t fancy that. But, she thought that she should just end up in an office or some other stable job. She never once thought that she could do something different and lived trying to live up to their expectations.
This is a story of how this girl, through the help of her two older sisters, learned to dream…For starters, her older sisters, one related by blood, and the other as close as family, became her biggest inspirations. She looked up to them as not only were they talented and kind, but they somehow knew how to make her smile and believe in the daydreams kept safe in her heart. They taught her how to be happy and share this happiness with others through her daydreams. They pointed out how she needed to stay away from the people who hurt her, and to hold close to the ones who valued her for who she was. But, she didn’t fully understand this till later.
One spring weekend, the two sisters took her to an anime convention. It wasn’t just an anime convention, it was a beginning to the start of a new lifestyle. It was a start of something big, and she did not expect that to happen. The girl felt accepted in a whole different level, appreciated for all of the things no one else recognized, and loved for simply just who she was. She began to see things in a different light-city lights suddenly became magical, warm, and brighter, cute a new appreciation and desire for “ordinary things” like coffee shops, buses and apartments were longed for.
Through the next conventions she went to with her sisters made this girl very happy. She looked forward to each of them and although she was sad when each of them ended, they all taught her something new. Her daydreams began to grow into reality and realized that she could dream all she wants, and they will come true, as long as she keeps God close to her.
When her sisters left for college, the girl was very sad. She felt lonely, sad, and longed to be with them again. However, through this time, God slowly began to reveal to her, dreams that she would have never imagined before. Excited, she told them that she wanted to go to South Korea and work behind cameras and in studios. She desired to live in a cute apartment with a small cat she would call Seoul and visit all of the places she saw in dramas. It was a new thing to the girl, but she knew with God’s help, she could do anything.
Through broken friendships, loneliness, and those unanswerable questions, she was able to gain new understanding of what was important, and who she shouldn’t hang around anymore. Through the conventions she attended and her sisters who never left her side, she was able to finally live her life. And through God, she was able to learn how to be rely on His will.
This girl, although she has just started to live her daydreams, she would not have been able to do it without God. And without God putting her sisters in her life, she wouldn’t be where she is now. The girl thanks her sisters for being her biggest inspiration, her favorite people in the whole world, and her best friends. She would not have wanted to live life without them.
So, thank you, my oneechans, for saving this girl from a life without her daydreams and without a new appreciation for the people around her. She definitely wouldn’t have been able to get this far without them. And as she's always known to conclude, she ends by saying, "much love and keep dreaming."
