Hey everyone!
Lately, I've been feeling the need to take extra care of my skin because, why not?
Skincare is so vital because taking care of our bodies helps us to treasure what God gave us, as textbook as that sounds.
How to Start:
Taking care of your skin starts with a few things:
1.Make sure to drink about 8 cups of water each day!
I know that it's hard to down eight cups of water each day, especially if you're busy. However, taking time out of your day to replenish water back into your system not only helps to keep your skin moisturized and youthful, but it also helps to keep your body running properly and feeling more energized.
2. Eat well
Of course, eating healthily is hard to actually pursue because it costs time and money, but there's definitely ways that we can be a bit more healthier. For an example, snacks should be light and meals shouldn't be too heavy either. A good rule of thumb to go by is to eat only till you're about 80% full. When we eat till we are too full, the food puts too much pressure on our intestines, which can lead to health problems. Simply think of it as a motivation to take care of your body and glorify God through it. Eating well not only is beneficial for our bodies, but also for our skin. For what we eat, is often proven through our skin's health. There's always videos on YouTube to look for affordable meals and snacks, and to start you off, here's a couple of YouTubers I recommend you to check out: Blogilates and Melodee Morita.
3. Protect your skin from the sun
Although healthy amounts of sun is good for you, too much time of sun will increase/make worse wrinkles and skin spots. The sun can also really dehydrate your skin, so be sure to always replenish your skin whenever you can. Wearing sunscreen as often everyday will not only protect your skin from the sun, but also from the lighting indoors which is also known to be unbeneficial to us.
4. Exercise
I know, it's not easy for me too. I don't like exercising, and I'm never motivated to do so either. So, please feel comforted when reading this because not everyone enjoys running outside. However, sweating and keeping our heart rate up is very beneficial to our overall health. Don't try to think of exercising as a way just to lose unwanted weight, but as a way that you can feel a bit more relaxed when you go to bed and more energized. Again, look at Blogilates and Melody Morita, they don't usually make you go outside!
Skincare!
1. After considering all of the above, the very first step in skincare has to be cleansing.
Cleansing is crucial to skincare because without it, I think of mopping an un-swept floor when putting on skincare products.
To start:
1. Find out what type of skin you have. Is it oily? Is it dry? Is it combination? Is it normal?
Once you have found your skin type, then you are off to a good start.
2. Cleansing the right way: I suggest the Clarisonic because it offers exceptional cleaning for all skin types. Although this can be pricy, there are also cheaper versions at the store such as the sponge cleaners you can order/buy through Nature Republic which also offers different types of cleansing.
a. Wash your face 2 to 3 times a day, making sure to wash your hands well before and also washing in a circular motion away from your face to avoid wrinkles.
b. Oil Cleansing is also an option because it is excellent for oily skin! Although this may not seem logical, oil cleansing is known for helping to rid your skin of makeup/sebum before washing it with a cleanser.
c. Never be too lazy to take off your makeup and be sure to wash thoroughly. Also, wash your brushes/bb cushions at least once every week or two. This can create acne if you're not careful.
d. Exfoliate at least once a week. (Depending on skin type) Exfoliation is important, so be careful what product you chose and be sure not to scrub your skin too hard. If the exfoliation products are too pricey, I like to combine coconut oil and brown sugar. You can also add honey if you have acne. If you do not own these products, you can also use baking soda. This product makes your skin soft.
3. Skincare
Skincare is also very crucial because it helps to make your skin feel healthy and youthful. Starting with skincare when you're young is best, but any age to start is just as good! Be sure to start off with experimenting with different products and give the product at least a week or two till you decide if you like it or not. Sometimes, your skin might break out when you first start wearing the product, so don't worry. Your skin just needs to adjust. However, if you have an allergic reaction to it, then of course, you shouldn't use it.
I suggest the Face Shop or Nature Republic because their products are generally affordable. Remember that you may not get results right away, but know that you are taking care of your skin. I don't see a striking difference even though I have been using these products for almost a year, but without them, I do feel a difference.
Basic Skincare products: toner, essence, moisturizer
Products from the Face Shop usually come in packs of three or so. Start off with an affordable product that you have tested with and asked a worker about. Be sure to ask how to use it properly and any other questions you may have. I like the aqua products from Nature Republic and also the Bee Venom toner.
Makeup:
Now, makeup! I love makeup because although some see it as a way to impress others, I see it as a way to boost my self confidence and as an art form. Taking the time to do your makeup, even if you're not going away or going anywhere particularly special lets you experience a different level of confidence.
I love Korean style makeup, because just like their skincare, Korean makeup focuses on fuller eyebrows to attain a youthful look, foundation that looks natural, but most of all, healthy skin that shines through it all. Here's a look that I like:
Makeup and Skincare Dreams:
One day I would love SKII, but until then, it would probably be Hera Products and the one step pimple clear pad. And for makeup, I guess that can wait><
What are you skincare and makeup dreams?
Remember that all of these things that I have told you, I want you to feel motivated to take care of your body and to treasure the temple God gave you! Don't worry, we're all in this together!
Much love and keep dreaming, Momo
