How to Deal With Failure

Hey wix family!!

How are you doing? I hope that things are well, and if it's not, I hope that you can endure it. For me, things have been a bit rocky these past weeks. First off, I have been dealing with lightheadedness, (God finally revealed to me what was wrong!) a cold, and a rejection letter from NHS.

So, without me babbling too much about the details of my life, here's some pointers I learned while coping with failure:

1. The Bigger Picture: When unfortunate things happen in life, we often forget the bigger picture of it all. Remember that God sees all aspects of your life, and when something unfair or displeasing happens, knows that it's never looked past by God. We have to remember that God sees our future and there is nothing hidden from Him. Trust in His lead and know that you can't do life without Him.

2. It's All About Perspective: This point is similar to the last one: it's all about perspective. There is a reason for each situation in life, and although you may not fully understand what God is doing in your life, you just got to trust Him. He will acknowledge that.

3. How You Deal With Your Pride: When we fail, you must admit that it does something to our pride. We as humans generally like to be praised, want to feel of some importance, and desire to succeed at all times. However, when failure does come our way, we shouldn't be quick to shutdown and think only about us. There are so many lives you can affect by showing strength when the situation is hard. During a hard time like, focus on how you can find joy in the Lord, rather than always wallowing in despair-I don't think God wants us to just focus on ourselves.

4. Soak Up the Life Lessons Learned: When we fail, we also learn things along the way-it can make us into a stronger person if we let it, or we can let our selfishness take over and refuse to let it change us for the better. During this time, I know that it is hard, but realize that it was meant to happen for a greater reason above our understanding and that if you had succeeded, it would not have been right. Trust the journey, even if it's confusing-God has a plan that we can rely on.

5. Know that You Are Appreciated and Thought Of: Know that whatever failures come your way, that that failure does not represent the beautiful heart that God made inside you. Even if you messed up, sinned a sin that you feels is unforgivable, remember that God can always forgive you. (Psalm 51) Even if you feel as if things couldn't have been worse, know that God's thoughts for you outnumber the sands, and that even if things don't seem to get better, that everything will work out in its own timing. So even if you feel unappreciated, God sees those talents and little happinesses that make you up.

6. Choose to Be Happy: I know that this one is hard, but I think that it is our choice whether or not to be happy. Some of the ways I cope with hard situations is of course, God's Word, music, and Korean Dramas. Run to God first because He knows how to comfort you. Isaiah 40:31 says, "But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint."
