My Little Ounce of Sunshine Part 6

Hey everyone!

How have you all been? I can't believe that it's already March! Time has really flown by quickly. In this blogpost, I'll be continuing this series, so if you haven't read the first five, feel free to read them in my previous posts!

Much love and keep dreaming,

Momo

It's definitely a "Monday" type of morning. I rolled out of bed reluctantly and found my way to the bathroom. Looking at myself in the mirror, I couldn't help but laugh at how lazy I am. I slept in the same clothes I wore throughout the day and noticed definite streaks of mascara and foundation. "Who cares?" I giggled. I must've fallen asleep trying to learn Japanese last night. These days, I have been wanting to visit the beautiful cities of Japan and tour the country roads while eating as much as I wanted. Who knows, maybe one day, I'll end up in a cozy apartment there.

So, figuring that I should make myself a bit more presentable, I washed off the remnants of makeup and opened my makeup bag. It consisted of what seemed to be a decade old, dried out but somehow still usable mascara, a broken eyelash curler that I shouldn't be using, funny smelling foundation, and ancient eyeshadow. "I guess I should buy new makeup soon," I sighed. "Why must it be so expensive to put stuff on your face so that your dark circles aren't mistaken as a punch in the face??"

After I changed into new clothes, I looked at the time, and of course, I'm fifteen minutes late...once again. I quickly rushed out of my door with unbrushed hair, forgotten deodorant, and a lunch. Feeling bad that I forgot to pet my unaffectionate, obese, flat-faced cat, I jammed whatever key fit into the door and tackled my cat with full force. Sure, she got flattened under my weight, but that's what I call true love. And yes, while being 29, I still get asked why I don't have a boyfriend. What's my reason for that you say? Oh, the list goes on and on, my friend. So, I just nervously laugh when asked the question and tell all of the concerned people around me that I don't want to date their smart son..for the tenth time.

Arriving at work late once again, I hurried to my office upstairs, avoiding all eye contact like a diseased bird whose eye twitches when talking to people. Fixing my hair back into a better state from the rain, I smoothed down what I could and used my fingers as a comb to attempt to do what I know is not going to work as I would like.

"Morning, Ms. Robin." I heard a familiar voice. I turned around to see Mr. Matsuro wearing that same black cap and his friendly smile. Since it was raining outside, he was drenched from head to toe like a cat who was forced into a bath with slightly curled hair sticking out of his cap.

"Good morning, Mr. Maturso!" I said while awkwardly tripping over my own feet like a puppy with big paws. I noticed a tag of floral printed linen covering something tucked under his arm that he seemed to be hiding. He must have been in a rush this morning too.

"I'll see you around, then." He waved as he disappeared behind the corner.

It's going to be an interesting week, I thought as I entered my sunlight corner of this building. A single small note sat in the middle of my messy desk. I guess that it's just another editorial note from my boss, I opened it.

And to my surprise, the note wrote:

Ms. Robin~

I hope you find this note well. Today is a special day, right? Happy birthday! I hope we can continue to work together. :)

-Your first fan

Under the note contained a lunchbox wrapped in that same floral linen Haruki was hiding in his coat and a fresh mug of coffee. I had forgotten myself that it was my birthday-I guess this will turn out to be a very special day.
