Little Ounce of Sunshine Pt. 8

Hey guys!

How are things? I hope that all is well and that you're enjoying the day so far! Without further ado, I'll go ahead and get right into the story! I hope that you'll like it!

Much love and keep dreaming,

Momo

Seeing Haruki's black cap on the ground by the bench made me worry for some reason. Walking quickly and snatching it off the ground before the wind could blow it further from reach, I was definitely assured that it was his. That same star made of distressed fabric was embroidered on the side of the cap. "Where could he have gone?" I sighed, unsatisfied with this uneasy feeling.

"Well, maybe it was nothing. I mean, he really could've just accidentally dropped it and have gone to the bathroom or something..." I consoled myself by thinking that it probably wasn't anything and that I was worrying over nothing as I sat down with his cap still firmly clutched in my hand. After fifteen long minuted passed, I decided to walk back inside with an empty stomach and a worried heart. "Let's just see what happens. I'm just over-analyzing things as usual."

The day went by awfully slow as I tried to push the worrying thoughts in the back of my mind and to put my focus on the work in front of me. Slowly, I got back into the groove of work again, but those same thoughts kept popping back into my head unexpectedly. Frustrated, I got out of my chair and decided to see if he was in his office. Unfortunately, because I am not allowed in the writers' area for some confidential reason, I have never been up there. But just then, I got a call from my boss to come to the upper part of the building-the building where Haruki works in!

Excited, I peered around the corner to make sure there weren't anybody in sight before I would dash like a "stealthy" overweight corgi up the stairs.

Although this section of the building is not usually seen from street view, the part where Haruki and other writers work in seems like another world compared to by side of the building. As I rounded the corner, I was soon greeted by distressed, wooden spiral stairs with French style windows encasing this dream-like space. Underneath me and around me, I was able to witness a beautiful city, busy and happy-anticipating the spring season. With intricate black railing branching out in spirals and swirls, I let my finger pass by them, allowing my feet to ascend each step with anticipation. Reaching the top, I noticed the bright sunlight beaming through a clear window that sat at the top of the ceiling and the continuation of the distressed wooden floor, unlike the hard tile in my area. Most people didn't seem to notice me as I cluelessly wandered through busy workers pushing their way past me and extremely stressed out bosses who would use anything nearby as a stress ball. "I wonder why I haven't been able to come back here all these years. I would love to work in this area..." I gasped as I took in the beauty of the rooms that I soon discovered." It's beautiful."

Suddenly, I heard faint music in the distance-it was a strange, yet beautiful melody. As I followed the music to where it got louder and louder, I peeked inside the room where I heard it the loudest and found...

"Mr. Haruki?" I repeated the words in my head out loud and immediately scolded myself. Haruki, however, looked up from staring at a music box encased in his long fingers and sweetly smiled.

"I knew you'd find me," he said with tears in his eyes.
